hi,
My wife (not living with me and we have not yet taken divorce) and her family defaming my elder brother (a divorcee) that he has illicit relationships with some women. While my brother is not having any such relationships.
Can he file a case of defamation on my wife/her family/her relatives?

No my brother is not into any relationship, they are putting false allegation on him. Can he file a case of defamation against my inlaws?

Yes, if he has been defamed in the society due to this, he can file.

But whether filing defamation case by my brother will lead to filing of false 498A or DV by my wife and my in-laws?

Nobody can be prevented from filing cases. She may file if she wants.

Whether it is advantageous to file a defamation case by my brother prior to filing of 498a/DV case by my in-laws? Because anyhow they will name my brother as alleged along with my name.
