Wife burns man, 6 of his kin to death in tn

A shocking story in today's TOI: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/Wife-burns-man-6-of-his-kin-to-death-in-TN/articleshow/47364328.cms

MADURAI: Upset with her husband leaving her, a woman allegedly torched him to death along with six members of his family, including his sister's three children, at a village in Madurai district on Wednesday.

Police said the woman, Pandeeswari, 25, along with her mother and brother, doused the sleeping members of the family with kerosene, threw a burning torch, locked up the house and fled. The woman, her 50-year-old mother and 27-yearold brother have been arrested.

Police said Pandeeswari got married to Kannan, 27, of Kumarapuram near Sedapatti in Madurai district about three years ago. But, the couple had been living separately for the last one year due to differences. They said the woman had been threatening to kill his family if he did not come back to live with her.

The dead include, besides Kannan, his father Velu, 65, mother Petchiammal, 50, sister Suganthi, 35, her three children - Sangeetha, 17, Sanjeevi, 12, and Vineeth, 11. After leaving his wife following frequent quarrels, Kannan had gone to work in Chennai. He had come home a few days ago.

P Velmurugan, a neighbour, said there had been frequent quarrels between Kannan and Pandeeswari after his return as there was a talk that he was planning to marry his sister's daughter Sangeetha. The girl had just finished Class 10 and was awaiting the results, which are expected on Thursday.
