Hi

I am an NRI settled in the UK and married to a Bangladeshi citizen. I would like my wife to have PIO card which she is not eligible because of her bangladeshi passport.

Is there a way for her to get a long term Indian visa to Indian and she can also be a part to my property in India.

In 1 years time she will have british passport. Can she have PIO card then

Please help!!!

Hi Shaji,

Also note that an OCI card holder can work in india without a work-permit or worker-visa(except for Government Offices). Also under OCI card, if you live in India for 5yrs, you can apply for Indian Citizenship(if you wish to ) upon proving that you have lived continuously in India for a period of at least 3yrs. You do not have to register in Police station at any time if you are holding OCI card.

Welcome any corrections on the above.

NRI will be eligible to vote in India, as per Govt news.

Since an OCI is at par with NIR for all activities(except purchase of agricultural land), will  OCI also eligible for vote. Will any body clarify ?.

One more question in this interesting forum: I prefered to keep continue asking in this forum rather than to put new.

Can OCB buy any property in India except agricultural property?

Does OCB has to pay any overcharge to buy property?

I am overseas citizen and OCB card holder and my wife is Indian citizen and eligible for overseas citizenship but we haven't applied yet. What can be best situation for us in long run?

To keep one overseas citizen and one Indian citizen or both should take OCB?

Is there any drawback of OCB against Indian Citizen?

Thanks.
