hi experts,

i got my wife's PAN card details. it seems she got it from income tax dept just last month (2015). can i file TEP against my 498a wife mentioning her PAN card details and complain against her as she says 6 lakhs as dowry in 2010 and  assuming 6 laks as dowry for her sister's marriage in 2011. Please advise accordingly.

Income tax department will not reveal any personal information unless court orders.

You can file a tax evasion petition but what about the details, will the statement given by her in the case support you case for TEP. First ascertain the  facts and then think of moving ahead.

You can file TEP, but don't expect instant results. Also, having PAN does not make someone an income ta payer by default.

Hi.

Can you please elaborate what is the effect of TEP? What procedure is carried out by tax authorities? can TEP be 'setteled' by the affected party (Ms 498a and company)?
