Considering the rampant corruption in the Country, where money meant for the poor villagers are misused at all levels, penalty under Section 25 of the National Rural employment Guarantee Act, required deterrent penalty, as the present penalty as it stood is just a farce. Amendment ir required in the Act.

Dear Mr. Asummi, the LCI is a forum whereas the common man interacts with Lawyers. It will be helpful & easy for common people if the text of referred sections will also be given herewith whenever the constitutional provisions are quoted so that the common man can also understand the task properly and can give their opinion. Dear Ram Samudre, One of the finest policy that the Indian Parliament enacted for the eliviation of the conditions of the poorest of the poor in the Country is this Act, known as The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005. Unfortunately, this policy became a money minting and money making for many corrupt politicians in the Countryand ofcourse with the support of the base Officials like the Rural development Department and BDOs level etc, making the schemes meaningless for whom the schemes was made by the finest economic brain of the Cpountry. The mot pathetic part is that, violation of the act was made as punishable with a mere one thousand by siphoning off Crores of money meant for the Rural poor for whom the money was sanctioned. The National Rural Employmen Guarantee Act, 2005: "Section 25:- Whoever contravenes the provisions of this Act shall on conviction be liable with a fine which may extend to One Thousand Rupees".Can you imagine? a programme officer under the Act, can get away with crores of money meant for the poorest of the poor for whom the Act was enacted, and if he contravenes the provisions of the Act, a mere Rs.One Thousand will be imposed as penlty. What do you think of it? Whereas, a man with an empty stomach who steals a bread can be punished with imprisonment of not less than seven years. where is our Law?
