Recently my father expired and for property distribution among my family members I have given xerox copies of the sale deed/property docs to lawyer for preparing partnership deed. Please confirm whether i have done the right thing or wrong. Am i safe or not. Please advise. Your advise is highly appreciated.

Property distribution and Partnership are two different concepts ,you might want to make a partition
deed , partition deed can be made by going through property documents which may not necessarily be the originals

What is a partnership doing with the partition?, if you want a partition deed drafted, the contents to confirm will be available in the photo copy of the property document itself, which would suffice the requirement.

For the distribution of property you have to get a partition deed drafted and for partnership business you would get a partnership deed. For a partition deed your legal adviser requires only the property particulars and the other details are not required.
