Reddy garu,

Can you just inform how men are fortunate ?  Can they ca seek partition of their father in law ancestral property. ?  (similar to member query as daughter in law wants rights on father in law's property)

Wife can not claim any right on the ancestral property of her husband or even on the self earned property of her husband when her husband is alive. She can only demand maintenance and a space to reside out of the property of her husband. Enen, In her father in law's property she vests no right to reside she can reside and claim maintenance only out of the property of her husband and  if he is decesaed intestate only then she has a share in his property as equal to her son's and daughter's as per HMA.

The amendement is still a bill but not a law yet and is lying in the shelves, probably full of dust.Hence the querist may not panic at this stage.

Its a different scenario with widows, regarding share in husband's ancestral property.

I agree with Mr Sainath Devalla. The Bill is still to be passed from both houses pf the Parliament So there is no change in the situation.
