My client has got Divorce. Now he wants to cancel the marriage registration certificate in Sub Registrar office.

But the Sub Registrar is informing, there is no provision to cancel the marriage registration after 5 years. Could you please advise me.

Format is, when remarry again, submit divorce decree to registrar and he will cancel old one and register new one.  Thats all.

@Author, if the Hon'ble Court sends the divorce orders with a direction to take necessary action, then the Sub-Registrar will note the same in the Marriage Register.  If the party produces the orders, the Sub-Registrar cannot act on the same. then the answer given gyaan sir is correct.

The decree of divorce is itself a  cancellation of marriage and U need not get it done again in the registrar's office.Registratiion pertains to previous marriage and the divorce decree describes UR current relations.
