Problem of Hospitalization Bill & Mediclaim TPA Approval Amount

Now a days Private Hospitals are billing abnormally for any treatment or surgery inspite of package offered by them.Hospitals should raise bill as per the package but they are charging more than package and ask to pay the bill or they will not give discharge. The Insurance Companies receive mediclaim premium from the public for many years from the public/ persons, if the age of 70 person , he must have paid more than 10 lacs as premium to Insurance company, sometimes this people of 60 years and up, they have not made any claim in the life. But when such persons require hospitalization, Hospital give abnormal high amount bill inspite of package, and TPA approves less amount then Package or Hospital Bill .

In such case public feels that they are cheated by Hospital and Insurance Company / TPA. The meaning of cashless treatment if you are covered under Medicalim, does not apply now a days. This is alarming. All class of people poor / middle class / rich, everybody are affected in extra payment , means difference of hospital bill amount and the amount approved by TPA. Why this loss should be paid from the patient who has paid lacs of premium in the past years, claiming it is cashless treatment ?

I have come across many such cases, but the people pay extra money difference to hospitals and they are silent. Do not take legal action against  Insurance Company  / TPA. Eighter they are not aware about this or they let go for the amount claim paid from their pocket  from Insurance Company / TPA .

Recently, I come across one case of friend of age 45. He had chest pain in the evening, admitted to hospital at night. Doctor did angiography and do baloon in one vein. No stent was required. So practically it was simple angiography with one vein baloon to open that vein. Next day patient was OK. Hosptial gave bill of amount Rs.1,95,000/- TPA approval was only Rs.1,30,000/- the difference Rs.65,000/- paid from his pocket. Why the patient should pay such fantastic high amount from his pocket. This Hospital had agreement with that particular Insurance Company / TPA for Cashless Scheme.

The Tv, News paper media and legal faculty friends should take up this issue in the proper presentation and to do concerete follow up so the public may not suffer at the time of medical crisis and emergency when they have no time to discuss all this issue and they are at the mercy of Hopsital for the immediate treatment !
