Power of attorney (general or special)

Hello Lawyers,

Please guide me as to which is more effective, General Power of Attorney or Special Power of Attorney.

My Father is Plaintiff in a Civil Suit, and due to his age he finds it difficult to attend the Court Hearings. Although his presence is not required for any kind of cross-examination or deposition. Hence, he wants me to attend in lieu of him.

He is planning to move an application to the Court under Order III Rule 1 & Rule 2 of Code of Civil Procedure for appointing me as his agent.

My specific query :-
1. What kind of Power-of-attorney should he execute in my favour ? General PoA or Special PoA ?

2. Which is more effective or has wider scope, GPA or SPA ?

3. Is the GPA or SPA required to be notarized by a 'Notary Public' ?

Please advice accordingly.

Regards,
Tushar Jha.
