Please help :- want to build a W.C. In a Pagdi Apartment

Please help and advise. Stay in a pagdi household and Dadar West Mumbai. Want to build a W.C. / Latrine in my house without making any modifications to the structure of the building neither claiming any extra space outside my house. Can pay the cost of construction. Landlord/Manager doesn�t permit. Is this doable? Regards Atul atulcbapat@hotmail.com

In such an event youcan build your toilet without landlord's permission.

. If you're not sure whether your landlord is legally required to make a repair, check to see if your specific complaint is addressed by: the terms of your lease, any oral or written promises your landlord has made, state and local building codes, or state landlord-tenant laws etc.

To construct a new toilet in the premises is definitely a major alteration and you need a written permission from the landlord and written sanctions from Municipal corporation, else you may face ejection proceedings under Maharashtra Rent Act 1999.
