Period of probation

Period of probation is 2 years for new appointment for class III and above in Kerala state service. And for the promoted post it is one year. What is the relevant rule fixing this period? (KSR? KSSSR? Special rules?)

Whether the one year benefit available in promoted post is extended to officer who are recruited to higher post in the line through service quota? If so, is this benefit extended to direct recruits who has already completed the probation in lower post?

Please quote relevant rules and cases.

Thanking you

There is a marked difference between in line of promotion and direct recruitment. Direct recruits have to render full period of 2 years of probation, as compared to the departmental promotees in line of promotion..

1. It is Imp. to know which rules are applicable.

2. The applicable rules are required to be studied.

3. The explicit rules or gaps shall give the way forward.
