Passport show cause notice

I have received a show cause notice regarding police verification for passport. On meeting the concerned police station i came to know the police has filed an adverse report because i was not present there for police verification. I applied for passport n then later i got married n shifted to another city. The officers sent me sms which i didn't receive probably because i was traveling. I want to know whether i can send my response through post and request the officers to close my application so i can apply with new address and marital status.
