Owner's right on private terrace

Dear Sir/Madam,

I purchased an apartment with 400 sft of private terrace. The apartment is in the top floor (4th floor). The private open terrace allotted to me the roof of the apartment in the 3rd floor.  To protect from sunlight and rain, I decided to put a roof over the private terrace. Put up a steel structure taking support from the parapet wall in  my privarte terrace and covered with polycarbonate sheet with some open space left over on all the 3 sides for a little air and sunlight.

Society takes objection to this and is asking me to remove it as private terrace should not be covered and used as an extended house. But, the roof is not a concrete structure...It is only a polycorboate sheet cover resting on the steel frame to support.

Need to know whether my actions is in compliance with the property law. If not, what are the solutions availale to have the roof as it is a must to prevent excess heat and rain

Regards

Venkat
