Hi, I have paid Rs80,000/- as Security Deposit to our Landlord and have served a one-month 1 week verbal notice period that we are vacating. The Landlord passed away a couple of months' ago (April) and th Landlady is claiming she has no money to repay the Deposit and was not aware of the financial transactions her husband carried out. She says she will pay us only after someone comes to the house and is demanding higher rent that people who come refuse to take up the house. In addition, according to tradition this is Aadi month that peopel will not usually vacate next month the Tamilians observe Aadi and chances of getting a new tenant is very low. If she minds, she can arrange the funds as both her sons are working one is settled here in Bangalore and the other in US. However, they are taking advantage of our meekness and buying time. Meanwhile I have had to borrow funds at huge interest rate to pay the new owner and block the house. Please advise how to get the money out of this lady ! !
