Nri married to malaysian - seeking divorce in india

A friend of mine is an NRI (male) married to a Malaysian citizen. The marriage was solemenized in Malaysia. After two and half years, the Malaysian citizen has deserted him. He was shattered due to breakdown of the marriage and subsequently returned to India. He wants to file a divorce in India and have the court proceedings in India. Could you please advice on how to proceed?

Malaysia is a Muslim country. The original querist did not mention whether his alleged friend is Muslim or Hindu. Whether she (his Malaysian wife is Hindu, Muslim or Chinese), but the querist's alleged friend looks to be an Indian national. However, nice to read that various experts have started suggesting him the remedies in India.

Please come straight. Is the Hindu male an Indian passport holder? Forget about his place of birth. Whether both have married in Malaysia under the Malaysian laws or Hindu Marriage Act? Penang state is dominated with the Hindus, mostly from Indian Tamil Nadu, so is the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. In the end, I think better follow the advise of Ms. Rashmika Motanna.
