Need help finding will

We live in Australia and our father died last year in Mumbai.  He was an Indian national and Christian.  We are not sure how to find his will and finalise his estate.  We have contacted the Indian Consulate in Australia and they cannot assist.  Is there a legal procedure in India we need to follow or does anyone in Mumbai specialise is such matters.  We have the details of the nursing home where he passed away but no details of who was handling his legal affairs or estate

You may contact the Church where he was a member last. The Church or his contacts may through some clue, if he has left a will.

Dear Valmae,

There are two possibilities either the will is registered or unregistered. In case it is registered then you may contact the local Sub Registrar Office in whose jurisdiction your father used to reside.  Otherwise consult an Advocate who will help you out to devise appropriate strategy for this purpose.

Dear Valmae,

In case there is no will then you have to go and get a Succession Certificate detailing the list of moveable and immoveable properties by paying around 8% court fee for this purpose.

Best Regards
