Maximum probation period

I am working in a Private Deemed University approved by UGC u/s 3 of the Act. Is there any maximum probation period for  an employee working as Assistant Professor even though in the appointment letter it is specifically stipulated a period of 12 months. Can an organisation extend the probation period for entire batch of employees being joined during same period year after year? what are the exact conditions for extending probation period?

The management of the university cannot go beyond the terms and conditions implied in the offer letter which means any action violating the T & C of the offer letter will render it invalid.

Usually the confirmation after probation is based on Appraisal.

Has any appraisal been conducted with you in your presence and do you have copies?

You may go thru UGC guidelines, ordinances of service conditions.................

 

A pursual of various guidelines,ordinances show that indeed there is a provision for PBAS and max. probation period is 24 months and the employer has to conduct,finalize PBAS a month before due date of confirmation......................................
