Maharashtra co-operative housing society-share certificate

Dear Sir,

A member of a co-operative housing society (Maharashtra) produces a Share certificate for endorsement of transfer.  The share certificate is laminated and hence endorsement is not possible.  What is the procedure?  Should we follow the procedure for issue of duplicate share certificate in which case the member has follow the procedure as per bye law.  The member and his advocate's suggestion is that society may accept the laminated share certificate and issue another share certificate duly endorsing the transferee's name.  What is the law point?

If a duplicate share certificate is insisted upon, the share holder has to apply for it following the procedures meant for mutilated/lost certificate and duly complied therein.  Law is common for all, if the certificate has been laminated for his own convenience then he has to answer for his act which is not recognised by law.
