Logo of a manufacturing company - trade mark or copy right?

This gets registered under Trade Mark Act. however there is the provision of getting the clearance from the Copyright also before Registration of Trade Mark..

If you had more artistic work, imagine cartoon character this can be registered under copyright.

However, as in your case Trademark can be registered.

Hai PUJA! company's logo can be registered, under Trade Mark, or copyright.

If it is having more artistic work, colour combinations, style of work, then you can apply for Copy right, i.e., way of presenting a company's name can be copyrighted.

if not Tm is enough. But your can not get both.

Company logo whether artistic or not can be registered under trademark in respect of the goods and services with which it deals with.If the logo is artistic then it can aiso be registered under copyright.However prior clearence from trademark registry is required for copyright registration

The logo of a company could be trade mark registered only when there is no descripttive mark, like, photos of animals, monuments or anything which is commonly used by human being. As per your query, the logo is consisting of photo of globe, the picture of globe is a very generic photo and nobody could claim their own rights on it. So it is not a registrable mark. Your logo of a company in abbreated form inside a globe falls under the category of figurative mark and hence can be registered as a trademark.Similarly  animals , birds, monuments etc all fall under the above category and can also be registered.
