Legal sanctity of a non disclosure agreement

What is the legal sanctity of a Non Disclosure Agreement got signed by an Employer on a letter head of the company from a departing employee whose full and final settlement and payments are to be released after signing.

Is IT stated in any of the communications e.g; job advt, interview call letter, offer letter, appointment letter, service rules, policies narrated in appointment letter and duly supplied to employee that before resignation employee has to sign said NDA?
