Legal heir or succession cerificate?

dear sir,

my wife passed away a year back leaving behind a 12 yr old son. i want to know if i should apply for a legal heir certificate or a succession certificate in order to club her income tax file with mine.

secondly, what steps should i take to ensure that her personal belongings can be legally passed on to my son?

for the purpose of income tax you need to apply for legal heir certificate only. and for other assets which you want to pass it on to the child kindly describe in detail about the same then only proper advice can be given.

Hi Manish,

Sorry for your loss. It is always advised to get the death and legal heir certificate as early as possible. When you need the same after few years, it will be very difficult to get it.
