Is recorded phone call (voice) considered as witness

I have been cheated by a person, he said to me a charted accountant and taken around one lakh rupees from me for arranging a loan of 40 lakhs.  I have recorded our conversation, in it he said he has taken one lakh rupees from me, now I am going file a criminal case against him.

My Question :- Is this recorded converstion considered as a valid witness?

Please some one could clarify me, I want to approach police to get back my one lakh rupees. Need your suggestion.
