I have made part prepayment on 4th July 2012 against my House loan account with HDFC Ltd.. At that time I had made the payments by cheques and was charged interest of just 3 days for the amount pre- paid. However when I have made full prepayment on 9.8.2012 by demand draft their officers have charged me interest of 10 days stating that the organization will be able to realise the amount on 11.8.12 (10. 8.12 being bank holiday).
From the way I was charged interest at the time of first prepayment, it is obvious that the interest is be charged only for days prior to submission of the cheque. Further, at 2nd time I have given demand draft which for all pratical purpose is treated as cash. Then is the organization is charging me interest for 9.8.12 as well as 10.8.12.
