Dear sir/madam,
we bought a eri poramboke land in maduravoyal, chennai city in the year 1993. We are staying in this land for the past 20 years. We have electricity connection, ration card, and voter id and my father not applied for the house tax. Now this area is under the control of chennai city corporation.
My question is, Is there any chance to apply for house tax for eri poramboke land in chennai corporation, and if so how to get the house tax..???

Since this is eri promboke land, you cannot get a title to the property by any sale deed because the land originally belongs to government. Once you do not have title to the property, you cannot pay the property tax, but you can pay tax for which you will get only B memo receipt and not the original receipt. Therefore, first you may apply for patta of the land in your name based on the long period occupation in the property and after getting the patta you are eligible to pay tax as per the rate fixed by the corporation authorities. Move an application with the Tahsildar office in this regard.
