Hi all,
I would like to knw, if there is any law in india that makes it mandatory for a hospital to provide ORIGINAL medical records of a patient, when it is required for health insurance reimbursememt claim. the insurance company says that they cannot rely on even an attested copy and need originals of the lab reports. however, the hospital says, they can provide only the attested copy of the records.

They only supply the attested copy. Originals they keep with them for their records. If office wants it can cross cheque it.

Bills & receipts and few pathological reports are demanded in original to pass your claim.

Take direction from court... court will summon to the concerned hospital to produce documents.... the same can be adopted at the time of the trial / during the proceedings....
file Consumer Complaint against the Insurance Company that they are intentionally not allowing the claim only on the basis of non avability of original documents. Therefore you can file application for the same before the forum.
