Grandchild born abroad is pio or not

I am resident in India. My son is NRI having Indian passport. My grand-daughter is born abroad having U.S. passport. Is my grand-daughter legally a “Person of Indian Origin” or a foreign national of non-Indian origin? Any formalities should be complied with Indian Embassy or Govt. of India?

I am requesting your advice as I wish to gift my flat to my minor grand-daughter. Eventually when she will sell upon my death, she should not feel that her grandpa created headache for her. Please advice.

There is no such thing as person of indian origin. It is now merged with overseas citizen of india or oci. Your granddaughter is a foreign national eligible to get oci status as her parents are of indian nationality. She is below 18 assuming. For this you need to apply through proper channel to the indian embassy or consulate office. They dont accept application directly you need to hire companies like cox n kings to help you in this.
