Document required to register property under lala dora of village

Sir, We have ancestral house in a village comes under Chandigarh. Both (Electricity and Water) the meters are in our fathers name from last 35 years and we used to stay. Prior to this No other document was there i.e registry deed. Is there any importance of Electricity/Water in showing ownership of the same. Or any statement of honble court. Will be helpful to us.
