Divorce petition filed but not heard

Hello, I have file for mutual consent divorce in the family court section of Secunderabad City Civil Court on 28th of Dec, 2017. The case has still not come up for heating for first motion. My lawyer says the case has not yet been numbered as the judged hasnt signed cases from Dec 2nd. could someone throw light on this if it is possible for it to take so long?

Thank you for your response. Who do I check with? Also, what is the procedure once the petition is filed. Does the judge have a role in getting the case numbered?

Go and check with court clerk/Ahalmad/Reader of the Family Court, District Court about your case details, the court register has all cases filled there put in the register and computer system, you get to know the status of your case from there.
