The Delhi High Court will be launching e versions of the court, say reports. Delhi’s e-court will begin functioning by December. The move to digitize the court is to save time, as well as paper. The proceedings will largely reduce the use of paper, as most of the data will be documented in CDs or USB storage devices.

The proceedings will be recorded online, and the judges will be able to watch it live through video conferencing. Lawyers can also view the proceedings through laptops or computers, which will help reduce the burden of carrying heavy case files. The data will be available on the website, making it accessible to anyone.

Justice B.D. Ahmad, who is in charge of the project, says that they will also consider making the payment of court fees and filing of reports via the Internet.

Dear Navin Aryan, this is great news and as others are saying it shoudl be implemented in all courts, constantly monitored and upgraded with missionary zeal. Can you pls provide more details on this.

1. The following are my suggestions.

a. Every citizena should be given a offiicial govt email ID on the lines of Unique identity number.

b. At the time of filing the case this email Id shoudl be compulsorily given. This email ID can be used to giving notice to people, to the government, receiving judgment copy and for numerous other ways. NIC can give a email ID or such other body.

c. A unique email id will eliminate the need for affidavits. The fact that a document is sent or submission is made thorugh the email id, it shoudl be presumed that is is made on affidavit.

It would greatly help if you can disseminate information about teh workding of the delhi court .
