GOKULDAS KAMATH (EX BANKER)     17 April 2012

Deduction of tds

TDS of Rs.1700  per month  was deducted from my salary from April 2011 to February 2012.I left the job in March 2012.As per form 26 AS for the assessment year 2012-13,it is showing credit of income tax TDS till December 2011 (9 months) aggregating Rs.15300 only and not 18700 actually deducted from my salary.Further,TDS for January and February 2012 is not reflected in 26 AS.Even TDS for 9 months was credited once in 3 months.TDS for Apr,May and June was credited  on 15.07.2011,TDS for July,Aug and Sept 2011 was credited on 11.10.2011 and TDS for Oct,Nove and Dec 2011 was credited on 15.01.2012

My total salary earned for 11 months is Rs.275000.My Income tax liablity will be Rs.9500 (@10% slab if the IT exemption limit is Rs.180000 for AY 2012-13 whereas TDS deducted from my salary is Rs.18700 which means I can get refund of Rs.9200.00 But as per form 26 AS TDS remitted by the company is Rs.15300 and FY 2011-12 is already over.It appears , company has swallowed my TDS of Rs.3400

Please guide me what can I do in this matter.Company is not issuing any salary slips to its employees.Salary was bieng credited to my bank account every month.

The TDS returns are filed quarterly by the employers hence you will find credit in your name accordingly.

For Jan-Feb TDS, wait till May, when TDS return for March Qtr will be filed.
