Commercial property vs residential property

Hello members,

We have a duplex house in Bangalore. Initially, we had 2 electricity meters (one for each house in ground & first floor). The first floor house was given for rent. As the property was in a prime area, we were approached by the film & television industry for shooting purposes. They wanted to use the ground floor house for shooting serials and movie scenes.
However, they said we needed to get the electricity meters converted to commercial meter. We got it converted and now the entire property has just 1 commercial meter.

My question now is:
1) Can we still give the first floor house for rent for residential purpose (for any family)? Would there be any implications?

2) We are currently residing in the ground floor. Can we use the ground floor for a new company registration purpose & continue to reside there? It is an ecommerce business and nothing would actually be run out of the premise itself. It would only be for physical address with a company board hung outside.

3) Please let me know if there would be any other legal implications if we reside in the property.

Thank you all for your time. Looking forward for your advice.

Regards,
Abhishek

The electricity distribution company can advise you on Commercial Meter for part of premises that is to be used for commercial activity.

Local Counsel can advise you on: if O/o e-commerce establishment is comerecial activity as per Shops & Etsbs Act.

Genericaaly speaking: it is.
