Cheating and forgery

I have cheated my employer over the years by submitting inflated bills (atleast 4-5 yrs). Recently my employer came to know about it and has launched an investigation. I am ready to settle the issue by paying the enitre amount back. Is this possible? Or is it mandatory to lodge an FIR with police? In that case under what sections will I be booked? What is the maximum term of punishment I would face? Can I apply for an anticipatory bail in this case? Pls advice
