Can we claim hra( rental home) and home loan interest(self)

Hi,

I am having my own home under the home loan and which was occupied by my parents. I am staying in rental home in another city.

Can i claim both Home Loan interest and HRA simultanueosly.

Pls suggest.

If you have taken home loan and are paying interest on such loan, then you can claim exemption of the same from I.T. to the maximum extent of Rs. 2 lakhs.

Claiming interest rebate on home loan has nothing to do with claiming HRA. You will be entitled to claim HRA provided you satify the conditions for the same.
