DD can be cancelled from the branch that issued it as they would have signature of purchase, original copy issuance form, and original DD would be required for cancellation.
Other option is of ‘Stop Payment’. However you should go thru the record and documents so that are you not sued or breach of trust, fraud, breach of contract etc. Ideally NOC from beneficiary may be obtained.
If DD is 6 months old (now 3months) revalidation would be required. For revalidation you might be approached would need to go to the same branch.
You may also check with the issuer bank with counterfoil of DD with stamp of bank, if the DD is enachsed or not?
