Can a will be modified?

# 4 / PS-4

3.9.16

1). What is a "WILL"?

1.A). Are there any ways available for a group of people who do not want

             to split to bequeath?

1.A.1)   In such a case, what can be Bequeathed?

1.A.2)   Who are the elligible subjects?

2). What are all the legalities, specially the binding part of it?

3). Is it bound on all subjects for all times?

4). Can it be modified?

Legal declaration of the intention of the testator, with respect to his property/estate, to be  effected after  testator's death.

It is last wish of testator and is supreme and binding.

By Codicil.

A Will can be modified any no.of times. It is better for a person of very advanced age to have their Doctor as one of the witnesses or alternatively get a certificate of sound physical/mental health as on that date to ensure that there is no legal dispute among the heirs.

The Will of a person is as per the last wishes and is legally binding.

Law & Legal definition governing CODICIL is as follows :-

A codicil is a written supplement to a person's will, which must be dated, signed and witnessed under the same legal rules applicable to the making of the original will, and must make some reference to the will it amends. A codicil can add to, subtract from, revoke or modify the terms of the original will. When the person dies, both the original will and the codicil are subject to the probate process and form the basis for administration of the estate and distribution of the assets of the deceased.

A codicil is used to avoid rewriting the entire will. A codicil should reference each section number of the will and the specific language that will be affected. It is important that a codicil is as clear and precise as possible to avoid undue complications.

Thank you very much.

Surely yes, a will can be modified a number of times & Codicil is an added facility; so far as the testator is alive & not after that. In fact the issue gets sealed at that point.

HOW LONG WILL THIS BE IN FORCE?
