Building society parking dispute

Hello All,

I have a serious question well this is about my society where i live in i recently bought a bike and have parked it in my society compound well the problem now is the society secretary is asking me to pay the rent for parking in my own society.

How can that happen when you own a house in this building and i am paying monthly maintainance then why should i pay rent for parking a bike. Is there any law regarding this or is this mandatory i know this money is nothing but a waste. I need some serious help on this

Sir, The Maharashtra CHS Bye-Law no. 82 states as under: "82. Every Member shall pay the parking charges for the number of slots allotted to him / her at such rate as may be decided by the General Body of the Society at its meeting, irrespective of the fact whether he actually parks his vehicle or not" Hence, if you are residing in a CHS in Maharashtra, you are liable to pay parking charges as decided at the AGM of your society. Good Luck, Kishor Mehta
