Breach of contract

have resigned from the current organization due to some allegations where I have given few references to the existing distributor ,company has called for a team meeting and taken in writing from couple of employees and I have submitted my resignation,now they have send me a notice asking for a huge compensation against breach of contract

What are these references and how come these amount to Breach of Contract?

Have you given the said references in writing/on record?

Is there written contract defining Misconducts /Breaches?
