Audit report for cooperative housing society

Hi All,

I want to understand the law for Signing the Audit Report for Cooperative Housing Society.

I was working as a treasurer for a CHS in Pune in the year 2012-2013. But I was out of the country for most of that year (more than six months) and until now.

All the checks and expenses were done by Chairman and Secretary. So is it mandatory for me to sign the Audit Report? Also the new committee at the society is threatening me to sign it.

I'm not comfortable as i don't have knowledge about the expenses and where the funds were used.

So does cooperative law has any clauses which says whether treasurer needs to sign the reports even if he was not present in the society and the country for most of that year?

Thanks a lot in advance and looking forward for your reply.

1. The Balance Sheet of a Coop Society, has to be signed JOINTLY by Chairman + Secretary + Treasurer. This is mandatory.

2. IF any mg.committee member is absent in mg.committee meetings for more three meetings, THEN the said member, is deemed to be dismissed from mg.committee.

Keep Smiling .... Hemant Agarwal
