Approx time for verdict in cheque bounce case

Hi,

There was a agreement done between X and Y . X gave a present date cheque to Y OF Z amount and Y in return gave a cheque of same amount to X  15 days post dated. They have signed an agreement with all specifications for a business deal that is loan arrangement .and a point was added in the agreement tht if Y is not in position of arranging the loan amount in 15 days  then the amount taken by him (Y) as up front has to be returned to X.

Y deposited the cheque in bank amount got credited. The deal didnt work after 15 days so X put the cheque to get the paid money back from Y but there is in sufficient funds.

Now my question is since the cheque is bounced and notice served and money not paid after 15 days of serving notice. and case is filed. approx in what duration can be the case solved. and does witness signed in the agreement need to go to court for hearing?

It is easy to file a cheque bounce case but with contesting accused it may linger on and on for no of years.
