Chennai, Oct 29 (PTI) The Madras High Court today held four top police officers, including then City Police Commissioner K Radhakrishnan, as "squarely responsible" for the February 19 police-lawyers clash in which several advocates and police personnel were injured.

A division bench of the court said the state government could exercise its discretion in the matter of suspending the officers pending disciplinary action against them.

The century-old Madras High court premises had virtually turned into a war zone when large number of advocates, agitating on Sri Lankan Tamils issue, clashed with police over arrest of some lawyers accused of assaulting Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy.

A judge, many police personnel and advocates, including some women, were injured in stone-throwing incidents and the subsequent lathicharge by police.

It is a well-earned triumph for justice, law and democracy. From now onwards police officials will (have To) think twice before breaking the law anywhere...

But what about the advocates who throw egg on a political person inside the Court hall ?

High Court should have directed the Bar Council to make enquiry on those advocates and to debar them.

The Police Raj must end. Every day police is interfearing in all walks of life with fake and fabricated evidences with the help of Political heads. It is considered as a shame to admit the misdeeds of police by the Government. Why it is so. Most of the criminals amoung the police force is a fact known to all.

However my faith in the indian judiciary is again shines by the verdict of Hon'ble HC of Madras. The attempt to tarnish the Advocates by the Police force is ended for some time. Still these vampires will errupt from the roots of the blood sheded by them.

Dear K.C.S Sir,

I agree with you  but, We lawyers are the one who safe guard the human rights and fundamental rights of the people of India. Imagine otherwise what police would have done to the citizen. Their arrogance, highhandedness, brutality, corruption and as the list goes on is known to the whole world. We never would like to get into trouble but at the same time would not allow anyone  to infringe into our rights. We are educated and we put in so much time and effort to study and understand the law. It is not just like that we get a degree. When we stand before a Judge we would be pleading on behalf of someone whose life or property is at stake. One small mistake from us could cause a loss to the common mans life or property. Hence please understand that we are not against anyone but for sure we will not keep quite when there are excesses.

Dear Aravindan Ganeshan Sir,

Even we are not happy with what happened at chennai high court, but as I mentioned when the people who are supposed to protect us do the opposite  we are we bound to act in self defense.

For every action there is opposite and equal reaction. Whom to blame ? Hon'ble Courts should follow same priniple outside court laticharges also.
