Child name change in Birth certificate

Hi,
My child was born in chennai 5 years ago and now he going to school. Can I change his name in birth certificate now? I need to remove his middle name from the birth certificate? is that possible? what is the process. please help.

This process is very easy. You can move an application supported with an affidavit duly attested in support of application to the Registrar Birth & Death of your area, who after being satisfied shall effect the necessary changes in the record and shall issue fresh date of birth certificate as desired.

You should apply to publish a note in this regard in Gazette of India, at your concern distt. office, publish an advertise in two local news papers in this regard, after that submit all these details to the school office, they will change the name accordingly.
