Your Advocate seems to be in search of making more money from you rather wait for the final court order in the divorce case.
If your wife fill for maintenance and alimony against you that doesn't mean she will definitely get an order in her favor from the court. Your Advocate is banking upon you to pay your wife so he can demand his share out of that amount. Just kick the advocate out, wait for final court order and engage another advocate if so required for future litigation.
