Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 25 October 2009 This query is : Resolved
I want to ask, if MNC plant shift within the state but kilometer is more than 25 km from the present establishment. There is any rule or legal guideline for company give the shift allowance (Bus facilities as usual as before). Every employees spending more than one hour spending in the travel. This surplus time can company compensate for employees by the enforcement of legalities. Please help us for getting some compensation for our extra time of traveling. we have a union also but it is not able to describe that allowance, they say no ground of it.
Thanks.

Your employer shifted the business location it is their decision. Providedly you are also given conveyance facilities i.e bus for plying from your home to plant site and back , it does not give any sense to ask compensation on this ground. There are so many employer you will find even not giving conveyance facility in that case employees have to travel for their duty at their own expenditure.

Dear friend

It is not obligatory on the part of employer to provide travel allowance etc because they have shifted the plant. They can always defend their decision on business exigencies and in the overall interest of business. Since you have a union try to negotiate certain additional allowances in a cordial manner.

If some one does not want to spend additional time on travel to the worksite , he can always look for a job that may be suitable
