I have heard that demolition of cinema theatre is not permissible in Uttar Pradesh. I want to close and demolish a single screen cinema theatre. Please describe the procedure for that.

First talk to DM of district who has administrative control and policies will also be available. There is no suc law as cinema is not essential service .It all depends on zoning plan of town specifically with respect to locality and development needs. Cinema can also be brought down for renovation by making it multi floor complex .That is how concept of multiplexes have come up globally to come to create vertical shopping centers .I am sure you will get permission if you make out a good case. You can contact any experienced builder developer or even contact me with details site plans and alternate planes you have in mind. The reasons for government not to allow is that it is meant for low ticket lower middle class and poor entertainment. Every one cant go to 350 Rs 500 Rs tickets.in hi fi malls.

Dear Sir,
You may go through the relevant procedure under
THE UTTAR PRADESH CINEMATOGRAPH RULES, 1951, if there is no provision then approach the High Court under Article 226 of Constitution of India and seek special permission under the given circumstances, which you justify for demolition.

Te summary as on date is that government may nt allow demolishing as it is common mans entertainment system. They are already hired Mumbai architects to modernism places and t make them productive. many things will come up. You have to prove real need and alternative to demolish and may have to furnish even undertaking in court regarding bonafide purpose and may be restricted to rebuilt multiplex type facility .You may change use like showing lack of audience, unapproachable locations ,parking issues, and your financial bankruptcy to sell it off .Law cant solve everything l;aw+ intelligence provided by experts like us in Industry and management .You can get it acquired it by local government too.I can tell you the ways.
