I am a govt medical officer in west Bengal.recently I have attended to a sub division court for medical witness.after wittness I have signed in a blank paper in court and sign attendance register. Why signature in blank paper. Is it rule? I can't understand why this is?

Blank paper is where the daily order of the court is noted/printed and your signature is marking your presence in the court. This practice is existing in most district courts in India.

The court gives a blank paper to you where the daily order of the court is printed and your signature is to mark your presence in the court.

Why did you not raise your objection before signing blank paper?
Presumably (rather implied) you have no doubt about the proceeding/ endorsements/ order sheet/ statement to be printed on the said signed paper by the Court staff in your absence.

The time you were made to sign the blank paper, you should have clarified why they were taking your signature like that, the court clerk would have clarified your doubt at that very moment. As you stood witness for a party, you should have asked the question from the advocate/Public Prosecutor why you were made to sign the blank paper sheet.
When my client ask me the same question I tell what is the actual practise which I told you here. If still you have doubt than get certified copy of that date order of that court, your signatures next to the date order will be there to clarify your all doubts.
Sir you happen to be a Medical Doctor know all about Medical Science but we the amateur know nothing, whatever you tell us we believe you, similarly, you should trust lawyers/advocates in legal practise.

I attended to court for a case of physical assault.a lot of case of physically assaulted patients come to hospital everyday and we give injury report to police. All details are written in injury report. I believe lawyers therefore I ask my query in this forum. I know few lawyers personally but I can't ask them about this. How will I get certified copy of that date of the order of the court?
