To apply for fresh passport after marriage

(Querist) 25 December 2014 This query is : Resolved
Hello,

My name is Akhila and all my docs (ration card, voter card,PAN card) have the same name.
This year on may i got married,I need to apply for fresh passport.
I don't have any last name in any docs, is it mandatory to have in order to get passport?
Still i did'nt apply for marriage certificate. My husband have passport and in that his name is NishithKumar Padubidri. Should i need to change my last name? If yes then what are the procedures i need to follow.
Please reply.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Akhila

you can get registration of marriage at sub-registrar office by three ways:-

1. akhila
2. akhila NishithKumar Padubidri
3. akhila Padubidri

and not any other name in this office.

If you do not intend to change your name after marriage, allow it remain in the original name itself, i.e., 'AKILA', do not create a problem for your ownself by thinking a lot of too many things. There is no necessity to change your name just because you are married, it is your choice. Take the advise of some experience elders of your family or an advocate in the local before deciding to do anything in a hurry.
