Police complaint alone may not solve the problem. These social evils prevelent evrywhere.Patinetly bear with and live a model life, which is alone the right way.

I agree with expert Mr. Isaac Gabriel. Just find out some previous instance in your village/caste and quote the same time and again before the Headman to built up a counter pressure.
Police complaint shall flare up your social boycott.

This is the effect of long existing social system. Legal action may not fetch desired results. You can take your family at your place of posting, where no body is bothered for such issues.

Just File a Police Complaint in Your Local Police Station marking Copy to I.G.of Police and Superindent or Commissioner of Police of your Place and also send the same to Human Rights Commission in Detail.Let your wife also forward the Complaints to SC associations and Parties of your Place in Detail.Rest will be Assured.

lodging FIR will further aggravate the issue . you can keep your family in city wherein you are posted

1 Your wife can lodge a police complaint for torturing a S.C. on the ground of her caste,

2. Collect adequate documents in support of your allegation,

3. Police will act,

4. If police refuse to act, send a complaint to the Ministry for the welfare of S.C & S.T.

There are two ways that this thing can be handled. One is by taking a legal route by lodging a complaint with the concerned police against the social boycott by the community people and the atrocities followed by such decision. This complaint may be escalated to the District Collector and to the Ministry of welfare. Even your spouse can lodge a complaint against the caste discrimination and the acts committed in pursuance. This will flare up the burning issue to the core which may or may not yield any or desired result.
The second way is to ignore such calls and actions by the vested interests and leave the place, shift the residence to some other area where your family is known very less.

You are not residing in the village. Your family members must be having some properties and obligations in the village. Your wife can make a complaint, what is the remedy? How to establish the social boycott? That too when your wife is not residing in the village? The best way is ignore such incidents and give moral support to your family members to live peacefully. If required, let them come to your place and live for some time. Over a period of time, these things will loose significance.
