Rent deed on legal (green paper ) with out stamps

Sir ,
Rent deed signed , both by the tenant and land lord on a green legal paper and is duly attested by the notary ,with notarial stamps . But with out any stamps (duty) . Is valid in court ? Or it is null and void ?
I beg ur legal opinion . Pl.

Does the Rent Deed mentions the period for which the premises will be given on rent. (e.g. for 2 years etc. etc.)?

IN STATE OF MAH
RENT AGR MUST HAVE [COMPULSORY] REGISSTRATION
So Stamp Duty+ Regn fees need to be paid & duly reistered, [ Even LL Agr for 11 months ]
Otherwise not accepted as Evidence in Court of Law.

If the period of the rent agreement is less than 12 months, this agreement is valid even without stamp paper and registration, in Tamil Nadu.

The rental agreement for a period less than 12 months need not be registered in other states except Maharashtra and few other states, therefore, if it is not in Maharashtra or the states where the agreement need to be registered by paying proper stamp duties, it is valid, but the author is mum about the tenure of rental agreement.
