Re-examination of plaintiff

Brief in a a nutshell: The advocate of a party started abstaining from hearing and thereafter completely left after some time. Examination in chief was made by him but did not conclude.

The query is how the examination of the plaintiff can be resumed by me? If there is any provision under which it can be done.

Shall appreciate collective wisdom of experts and guidance, if any, thought fit and proper.

I am not sure about the query. Affidavit in chief in done in writing only as per order 18 rule 4 of cpc.
So why is it still incomplete as tendering of affidavit in chief requires not more than few minutes.
